When you run a photo through Personality Scan, you don't get one flat answer. You get a few different takes, because there's more than one way to describe a person and none of them owns the whole picture. Here's a quick tour of the lenses and what each is actually up to.
The basic reading
This is the starting point, and it leans on the oldest idea in the book: that a face carries some impression of character. It gives you a straightforward, first-glance read of the kind of person the image suggests. Think of it as the opening sketch the other lenses build on.
Contemporary psychology
This lens comes at you from the modern side. It frames the impression in the language psychologists actually use, drawing on how traits and tendencies get described in current research. If the basic reading is a gut impression, this is the version that puts more considered words around it.
Typology
Some people just find types more fun, and stickier, than trait scores, and this lens is for them. It reads the image through the familiar systems: MBTI-style types, the Enneagram, the Big Five. These are the frameworks people love to argue about, and seeing which type a photo lands on is a good way to start exactly that argument.
Traditional reading
This one leans back into the older face-reading traditions the whole idea grew out of. It reads a face the way those long-standing practices did, less concerned with modern categories and more with the character a face was historically thought to reveal. It's the lens that connects most directly to the centuries of history behind all this.
Why bother with more than one
Why run several lenses instead of one? Because a person is too big to sum up in a single line, and each lens catches something the others miss. Read together, they give you a fuller, stranger, more interesting portrait, and a lot more to react to.
